First, begin by blotting the stained area with salt. This should help to absorb some of grease and oil. If your stained area is particularly large or deeply set into fabric, you might want to consider sprinkling a layer of salt over the entire area. Let this sit for 10 to 15 minutes before you move on to the next step.
Once you have let the salt do its work, mix together three parts baking soda with one part water. This should create a paste-like consistency. Rub this onto the greasy areas and let it sit for about 20 minutes.
After the baking soda has had time to work, it is time to throw t-shirt into the laundry with the rest of the clothes. Make sure that washing cycle is set to the hottest temperature your shirt can handle.
If the stain is still present after laundering, you may need to apply a stain remover, such as Shout, OxiClean, or a similar product. Follow the instructions on the back of the package and be sure to use the hottest water the shirt can handle.
Once the stain remover has been applied and you have laundered the shirt again, you should hang it up to air dry. Do not put your shirt in dryer, as heating up the oil spot can make it harder to remove.
