What You'll Need

  • 2 tablespoons of ammonia
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • Tablespoon spoon
  • Cup of cold water
  • Soft-bristled brush
  • Clean white cloth
  • Iron

Step 1: Preparing the Stain

Begin by mixing 2 tablespoons of ammonia with 1 tablespoon of baking soda and a tablespoon of cold water in a cup. Stir until baking soda is dissolved, then use a soft-bristled brush to apply the mixture gently to the stained area.

Step 2: Applying the Mixture

Continue applying the mixture in circular motions until entire area is covered. Leave the mixture to sit on the stain for 10 minutes.

Step 3: Removing the Mixture

After 10 minutes, use a clean white cloth to blot the mixture away. Do not rub or scrub the stain, as this could cause it to spread.

Step 4: Pressing the Tie

Once the mixture has been removed, use an iron to press tie. Make sure the iron is set on low heat to avoid burning or damaging the fabric. Leave the iron on stained area for 30 seconds.

Step 5: Repeating the Process

Repeat steps 1 - 4 as many times as necessary to completely remove the stain. If the stain persists, consider taking it to a dry cleaner for professional stain removal.
