What You Will Need

  • A bowl
  • Mild liquid soap
  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Absorbent paper towels or cloth
  • Laundry detergent

Step One: Pre-treat with Soap and Vinegar

Take bowl and fill it with warm water and some mild liquid soap. Mix the solution until there is enough soapy foam. Then add one tablespoon of white vinegar to the mixture.

Let sweatshirt soak in the soapy mixture overnight to break up the oil and grease stains.

Step Two: Scrubb Stains with Baking Soda

Once the sweatshirt has soaked for a few hours, take it out of the bowl and shake off any excess water. Place the sweatshirt on a flat surface and sprinkle baking soda onto stained areas. Rub the baking soda in gently with a damp cloth to break up the stains.

Step Three: Rinse Sweatshirt with Cold Water

Once you have finished scrubbing stained areas with baking soda, rinse the sweatshirt with cold water and then pat it dry with an absorbent paper towel or cloth.

Step Four: Wash Sweatshirt

Finally, put the sweatshirt in the washing machine with your regular laundry detergent and run it on a normal cycle. When the cycle is complete, remove the sweatshirt and lay it flat to dry on a drying rack.

And that's all it takes to get your favourite sweatshirt looking good as new!
