When it comes to deep-cleaning sleepwear, grease and oil stains can be one of the most difficult types of stains to deal with. However, with a few simple steps, you can efficiently remove these stains from your pajamas and other sleepwear fabrics. Here's what you'll need to do:
The first step is to pretreat the stained area with a quality grease remover. Many people find that using a liquid dish soap or laundry prewash stain remover works great for most grease and oil stains. Soak the stained area with the product and allow the product to sit for 10-15 minutes.
Once the pretreatment solution has been left to soak, take a cloth or scrub brush and apply laundry detergent directly to the stained area. Rub the detergent into the fabric then rinse area with water to help lift away the stain. Repeat this process until the stain is no longer visible.
Once you have pretreated and scrubbed off the stain, the next step is to wash sleepwear in cold or warm water with other delicate items. Make sure to choose a gentle laundry detergent and use the delicate cycle on your washer. To maximize your cleaning power, you can try adding a color-safe bleach like OxiClean to wash cycle. One you've finished washing the fabric, hang the items to dry.
If after washing, the grease and oil stains are still present, you may need to repeat steps one through three. Use a fresh application of pretreatment solution and repeating the laundering process until the stain is completely gone.
