Step 1: Blot Stain

Before attempting to clean the stain, make sure that you blot and remove as much of the excess oil and grease as possible using a paper towel or clean cloth. Take care not to rub the fabric too hard, since this may cause the stain to spread further.

Step 2: Apply Dish Soap

Once you have blotted the stain, apply dish soap directly onto the affected area. Then, use a soft brush or your fingertips to work the soap into the fabric, creating a lather. You want to make sure that the soap is thoroughly worked into the fabric, massaging it in a circular motion with your brush or fingertips.

Step 3: Rinse the Soap

After applying the dish soap, let the skirt soak for 10-15 minutes before rinsing it carefully under warm water. As you rinse, make sure that all of the soap has been removed from the skirt.

Step 4: Repeat As Necessary

Depending on severity of the grease and oil stains, you may need to repeat these steps multiple times before the stains are fully gone. After each cycle, make sure to blot the area to remove any excess soap before repeating the process.

Step 5: Finish with Stain Remover

Once you’ve completed the above steps and the stains are still visible, you can use a pre-treat stain remover before laundering the skirt. Follow the instructions on the label and then launder the skirt as usual.

Step 6: Dry Skirt

Once the skirt is washed, check the stain to ensure that it is gone. If not, repeat the above steps until the stain is fully gone. Then, hang the skirt up to air dry. Do not put the skirt in the dryer until the stain is completely gone.
