Instructions
- Blot the excess oil immediately using a paper towel or damp cloth, working inwards from edges of stain.
- Apply a bit of dishwasher detergent directly to the stain.
- Using a clean cloth, dab the stain while adding some warm water, allowing the detergent to foam as you dab.
- Keep repeat this process until the stain is completely gone.
- If the stain remains, mix equal parts white vinegar and lukewarm water, and pour the mixture over the stain.
- Using a sponge, dab the stain while adding a bit more water, allowing the vinegar-water mixture to soak into the chiffon and break down stain.
- Rinse the fabric thoroughly with clean water to remove the detergent or vinegar residue.
- Lay the chiffon flat out to dry, but do not hang.
Tips
- Always start by blotting the excess oil with a paper towel before attempting any cleaning.
- If the stain persists, use a dab of ammonia added to your detergent-water mixture.
- Avoid using hot water, as it could further set the stain and damage the fabric.
Warnings
- Do not pour liquid directly onto fabric, as it may cause the dyes to run. Always apply liquid mixtures by dabbing.
- Do not use bleach or other harsh chemicals on silk chiffon.
