Apply a spots remover or laundry detergent to the stained area. Rub the product into the stain and wait five minutes. You can use a soft brush if necessary to help work the product into the fabric. This will help to break down grease or oil so it can be more easily removed.
Rinse the stained area with cold water to help loosen the stain. Make sure to keep rinsing until all of the spots remover or detergent is gone. If the stain does not come out completely, repeat Step 1 and rinse again.
To finish cleaning shirt, put it in the washing machine and set cycle to warm or hot, depending on what type of fabric the shirt is made from. Add a laundry detergent that is designed for greasy fabrics and let machine finish the job. To ensure the stain is fully removed, check the shirt after it has finished washing, and if necessary, rewash.
Once the shirt has been washed, dry it in an automatic dryer. If stain is still present, repeat Steps 1 through 3 before drying. Some stains may require repeated treatments before they finally come out.
