When it comes to removing grease and oil stains from seersucker, there are a few easy techniques you can use to get the job done. Start by laying out the garment onto a flat surface, such as a table, and lay out a few paper towels beneath it. Using dishwashing liquid and warm water, mix together a solution and dab the stained area with a cloth or sponge.
Be sure to test the cleaning solution on an inconspicuous area of the garment before trying it on the stain. Once you're sure the solution won't damage the material, begin dabbing gently at the stain until it starts to lift. If the stain persists, try a commercial stain remover or some plain rubbing alcohol. Again, be sure to test this on a small area first.
Once stain has been removed, rinse the area with cold water and dab the area with a paper towel or dry cloth. To ensure all of the remaining residue is removed, mix a stronger solution of warm, soapy water and submerge the garment completely. Allow it to sit for 10-15 minutes before rinsing with clean water and allowing it to air dry.
With these tips in mind, you'll be sure to get your seersucker looking great again. Remember to always be gentle while scrubbing and test any products on an inconspicuous part of the fabric prior to using them on stain.
