Start by blotting the area with a white paper towel or cloth to absorb as much of the grease and oil as possible. Then, if the fabric allows, apply a pre-wash stain remover directly to the stain, making sure you’re careful to stay within the boundaries of the stain.
Using an enzyme detergent is best way to safely remove grease and oil from rayon. Fill a sink or tub with warm water. Add your regular laundry detergent and an enzyme detergent, such as those made by OxiClean or Biokleen. Allow the stained fabric to soak for 30 minutes and then rinse it out in cold water.
Once the stain has been treated, wash your rayon fabric on a gentle cycle with a mild laundry soap. After the cycle completes, inspect sheets, towels, and garments to make sure all of the stains are gone. If there’s any lingering residue, repeat steps 1-3 until the grease and oil stains have been completely removed.
Once you’ve washed and inspected the fabric, allow it to air dry or take it to a professional cleaner to be dry cleaned. This will help ensure that the grease and oil have been completely removed and will prevent any further damage to the fabric.
