Oil and grease stains on raincoats are frustrating and often difficult to remove. However, it is important to treat these stains right away and avoid letting them set in as they can damage the fabric of the garment. Here are some simple methods to help you get rid of grease and oil stains on your raincoat.
The first step when tackling an oil or grease stain is to allow it to set. This will give stain time to absorb into the fabric and make it easier to remove. Allow the stain to set for at least 15 minutes before attempting to clean it.
Once stain has been given time to absorb, you can apply detergent or degreaser directly onto the stain. Degreasers are especially effective in removing oil and grease stains as they are designed for this purpose. If you do not have a degreaser, you can use a laundry detergent with a high concentration of enzymes.
After applying the detergent or degreaser, use an old toothbrush to gently scrub the area to help remove the stain. Be sure to use a gentle touch and avoid scrubbing too hard as this could cause the fabric to become damaged.
Once you are finished scrubbing the affected area, rinse off the detergent or degreaser with cold water. This will help to remove any remaining residue that may be left behind. After rinsing, allow the raincoat to air dry.
If stain does not come out after following these steps, you may need to repeat the process a few times until stain is completely removed. Remember to be patient and keep at it until the stain has been fully removed.
