Using a scraper such as a butter knife, gently scrape off any excess residue from the affected area. Be sure to not use too much force as this could damage the material or leave scratches.
After scraping away excess, apply a pre-treatment cleaning solution to the stain. Mix a small amount of detergent with warm water and gently dab it onto the affected area with a soft cloth.
Once water and detergent mixture has been applied, let it sit for several minutes before scrubbing. This allows the detergent to penetrate the stain and begin to break it up.
Using circular motions, slowly work detergent mixture into the stain with a soft brush or cloth. Work slowly and carefully around the edges of the stain to avoid spreading it.
Once stain has been broken down, rinse the area thoroughly with warm water. Use a damp cloth to wipe the remaining detergent away.
If there is still a trace of the stain once the area has been rinsed, apply a vinegar solution. Mix equal parts white vinegar and water and gently dab it onto the affected area with a soft cloth.
Allow the purse to air dry without exposing it to direct sunlight or heat. This should help to ensure that no further damage is done to the material.
With these easy steps, you can easily get rid of grease and oil stains from your purse. Be sure to always test the cleaning method on a small, hidden area of the purse first, to check for colourfastness and damage.
