What You'll Need
- A washing machine
- Heavy-duty laundry detergent
- White vinegar
- An old toothbrush
- A clean cloth
Instructions for Cleaning Poplin
- Machine wash the stain separately on a normal cycle in hot water.
- If stain is still present, then pre-treat it with a heavy-duty laundry detergent.
- After applying detergent, use an old toothbrush to work it into the fabric until the grease or oil has been removed.
- To finish, rinse the item in cool, clear water and then launder it again with heavy-duty laundry detergent.
- If stain persists, try soaking fabric in white vinegar for one hour before laundering.
- When the item is finished washing, lay it flat on a clean cloth and leave it to air dry.
Important Tips
- Always test detergents and cleaning solutions on a hidden area of the garment first in case the fabric is damaged.
- Be sure to treat stains as soon as possible, as over time they become increasingly difficult to remove.
- When pre-treating with detergent, take care not to overwet the fabric.
