Peau de soie is silk or other delicate fabric with a fine satin weave. It's beautiful but also fragile and prone to staining. Grease and oil stains in particular can be challenging to remove, but there are steps you can take to get them out.

Steps for Removing Grease and Oil Stains from Peau de Soie

  1. If the stain is fresh, blot up as much of the liquid as possible with a clean, absorbent cloth.
  2. Mix a solution of two parts warm water and one part dishwashing detergent.
  3. Gently apply the solution to the stained area using a soft cloth.
  4. Let the garment soak for 15 minutes.
  5. Rinse stained area with clean, warm water.
  6. Repeat steps 2-5 until the stain is gone.

Additional Tips

  • If too much detergent is used, it can leave residue on the fabric.
  • It may be necessary to repeat process multiple times to completely remove the stain.
  • Avoid scrubbing the fabric, as this can cause further damage.
  • Be sure to read manufacturer's care instructions before attempting to clean the garment.

Drying

Once the stain has been removed, gently blot the area with a dry, clean cloth and let the garment air-dry. Do not put the garment in the dryer, as this could damage the fabric and set the stain.
