Step 1: Blotting the Stain

The first step in removing any kind of stain is to blot the area with a paper towel or cloth. This will help to absorb any excess oil or grease. Do not scrub fabric, as this could cause the stain to spread.

Step 2: Pre-Treating the Stain

Once you have blotted the stain, you can pre-treat it with a few common household items. Start by sprinkling some talcum powder or cornstarch onto the stain. Let it sit for 30 minutes before brushing away the powder. Next, apply a mixture of white vinegar and water onto the stain. Let this sit for another 30 minutes, then blot away any excess liquid.

Step 3: Washing the Muslin

After pre-treating the stain, you can safely machine-wash the muslin. Use a gentle cycle and do not heat dry fabric. Hang the muslin outside or in a room to air dry.
