Grease and oil stains on joggers can be some of the toughest to remove. That’s because the fabric of joggers is usually thicker and more prone to staining than other types of clothing. Luckily, with some quick thinking and the right cleaning products, you can easily remove these stubborn marks.

Step 1: Soak in Cold Water

First things first, you’ll want to focus on soaking the stain in cold water as soon as you can. This should be done pretty much immediately after the spill has occurred, as it will help to reduce the intensity of the stain before it sets in. Simply fill a sink with cold water, add a small amount of laundry detergent, and submerge your joggers for at least 30 minutes.

Step 2: Pretreat with Laundry Detergent

Once joggers have had a chance to soak in the cold water, you’ll want to pre-treat the stained area with laundry detergent. Start by rubbing a small amount of detergent into the stained area with a cloth or sponge, and allow it to sit for at least 10 minutes before proceeding.

Step 3: Spot Treat with Stain Remover

To really zero in on the grease and oil stains, you’ll want to spot treat them with a specialized stain remover. Again, rub this product into the affected area with a cloth or sponge, and then allow it to sit for at least 10 minutes. For best results, you may need to repeat this process several times before you start to see the stain lifting.

Step 4: Machine Wash and Dry

Now that the pretreatments have been completed, you can finally put your joggers through the washing machine. Just make sure to select a cold water cycle, as that will be best for delicate fabrics. From there, you’ll want to let your joggers air dry, as this will prevent any additional damage from the heat of a dryer.

Stubborn grease and oil stains can be difficult to remove from joggers, but with a little bit of effort and right cleaning products, you can get them out. Just be sure to act quickly, and make sure to follow the steps outlined here for best results.
