The first thing you should try when cleaning greasy jewelry is mild soap and warm water. Simply mix a few drops of mild, liquid dish washing detergent with warm water in a small bowl. Soak your jewelry for a few minutes and then carefully scrub the metal with a small soft bristled brush or toothbrush. Rinse your jewelry with warm water, gently pat dry with a soft cloth, and then buff the metal with a soft jewelry polishing cloth.
Another way to clean greasy jewelry is to create a paste out of vinegar and baking soda. Mix together equal parts baking soda and white vinegar until you get a paste-like consistency. Liberally apply the paste to your jewelry and rub with a soft cloth or brush. Rinse your jewelry with warm water, gently pat dry with a soft cloth, and then buff the metal with a soft jewelry polishing cloth.
You can also purchase commercial jewelry cleaners to help you remove grease and oils from your jewelry. Make sure to read directions on the product label before use. Generally, these include mixing a solution in a bowl, soaking your jewelry for a few minutes, scrubbing with a brush, and rinsing with warm water. Gently pat dry with a soft cloth and then buff the metal with a soft jewelry polishing cloth.
Cleaning jewelry doesn’t have to be a difficult task. With a little effort and right tools, you can easily restore your jewelry to its original shine. Remember to always handle your jewelry with care to prevent any damage.
