Eliminating Grease and Oil Stains from Jacquard with Ease

Grease and oil stains can be difficult to remove from any material, but especially from jacquard fabric. Luckily, with the right supplies and approach, it is possible to safely and effectively eliminate these stubborn blemishes.

Equipment and Supplies Needed

  • An absorbent cloth such as a terry cloth or other lint-free material.
  • Warm water.
  • Mild detergent.
  • Stain removal product.
  • Dry cleaning solvent.

Steps for Removing Grease and Oil Stains from Jacquard

  1. Blot the affected area with an absorbent cloth to remove as much of the stain as possible.
  2. Mix a solution of warm water and mild detergent.
  3. Soak the stained area in the detergent solution for up to 15 minutes.
  4. Rinse the fabric with warm water.
  5. Apply a stain removal product to area and allow it to sit for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Rinse the fabric again.
  7. If the stain is still present, apply a dry cleaning solvent.
  8. Once the stain is gone, launder the fabric following the care instructions on tag.

Tips for Success

  • Always test stain removal products on a hidden part of the fabric before using on the stained area.
  • When using dry cleaning solvents, take care not to oversaturate the fabric as this can lead to discoloration.
  • When laundering, use the lowest temperature setting available and never put jacquard fabric in the dryer.
