Materials and Cleaning Products Needed

  • Laundry detergent (preferably one suited for delicate garments)
  • Soft brush or cloth
  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Dishwashing detergent or dish soap
  • Water

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Gently scrape off as much of grease and oil as possible using a soft brush or cloth. Avoid rubbing it into the fabric.
  2. Mix together a solution of two tablespoons of laundry detergent, one cup of white vinegar and two cups of warm water. Soak a soft brush or cloth into solution and gently scrub the stain.
  3. Rinse the fabric and allow the excess liquid to dry. If the stain remains, mix together a paste using baking soda and water. Apply the paste directly onto the stain, use a damp cloth to rub in paste, rinse and let dry.
  4. If all else fails, try applying a few drops of dishwashing detergent or dish soap onto the stain and then scrubbing gently with a soft cloth. Rinse with cold water and allow to dry.

Conclusion

Removing grease and oil stains from a jacket can be a challenge but if you have the right cleaning products and follow the steps outlined here, you should be able to do it with relative ease. Good luck and happy cleaning!
