The first step in removing grease and oil stains from dobby fabric is to blot area with a clean, dry cloth or paper towel. This will help lift out as much of stain as possible without causing more damage to the fabric.
Once you have blotted up as much of the stain as possible, it’s time to apply a cleaning product to remaining stain. Use a gentle laundry detergent or fabric cleaner, such as Woolite or Dreft, and follow the instructions on bottle for best results. Once product has been applied, let it sit for about 10 minutes before rinsing.
Rinse off the cleaning product with cool running water and use a dry cloth to gently dab at the affected area until the stain is gone. Hang the dobby fabric up to air dry and do not put it in the dryer, as the high heat can set in the stain.
Grease and oil stains can be difficult to remove, so prevention is key. When working with oily substances, make sure to use a protective covering to prevent the oils from getting onto your dobby fabric. You should also spot test any cleaning products on an inconspicuous area of the fabric before using them.
