Step 1: Blot the Stain with a Paper Towel

Immediately after discovering a grease or oil stain on your Dashiki, begin by gently blotting the area with a paper towel to absorb as much of it as possible. Make sure to only blot with light pressure — any additional rubbing can spread and worsen the stain.

Step 2: Treat with a Dry Cleaning Product

To further treat the stain and prevent it from becoming more stubborn, over-the-counter dry cleaning products are a great option. Sprinkle the powder over the stained area and allow it to remain overnight. This helps to break down the molecules found in grease and oil stains.

Step 3: Spot Clean with Cold Water

Once the dry cleaning product has been left on overnight, you can spot clean area with cold water. Dip a soft cloth into the water, then use light pressure to gently scrub the stained area. Warm water may also be used, but try to avoid hot temperatures which can set the stain.

Step 4: Air Dry the Dashiki

Finally, hang the Dashiki up and allow it to air dry. Air drying is a great choice because machine drying can cause any remaining stains to become even harder to remove. With some patience and practice, you’ll have your Dashiki looking good as new!
