First, mix one teaspoon of liquid laundry detergent with two cups of warm water. Soak a clean, white cloth in the solution, then use it to dab the stain.
Pay close attention to the area around stain as well - the detergent will help break down the oils that have spread around the edges.
Create a thick paste out of shaving cream and baking soda. Rub the paste onto stain and let it sit for an hour. This will help further break down the oils and lift the stain away from fabric.
Mix one part white vinegar with two parts water and use it to rinse away the shaving cream paste. If there are still traces of stain, move on to the next step.
Mix one part salt with one part hydrogen peroxide and apply the paste to the stain. Let it sit for about an hour before rinsing with cold water. The salt will act as an abrasive, helping to break down tough oil stains.
Once the stain is gone, wash the item in hot water with laundry detergent. Do not add bleach or fabric softener - both can weaken the fibers in seersucker cotton.
To preserve the fabric’s texture and color, air dry your garment rather than using a dryer. To remove wrinkles, spray the item with a fabric refresher and hang it up to finish drying.
You’re done! Now you know how to get grease and oil out of seersucker cotton.
