The first step is to blot stain with a clean, white cloth. This will help to remove any excess grease and oil from surface of the fabric. Do not rub the cloth as this may spread the stain further.
Once you have blotted the stain, it’s time to apply a suitable cleaning agent. A mild detergent or laundry soap mixed with warm water is usually enough to remove most grease and oil stains from denim. Be sure to read the instructions carefully to ensure that cleaning agent is suitable for the type of fabric you’re dealing with. Rub the cleaning agent gently into the stain, then let it sit for 5-10 minutes.
After the stain has been treated with a cleaning agent, rinse it with cold water. Do not use hot water as this may cause the stain to set further. Once stain has been rinsed, it should be much lighter in colour. If the stain is still visible, repeat steps 1-3 until the stain has been completely removed.
Finally, wash and dry the garment as per the manufacturer’s instructions. Be sure to do a final check of the stain before putting item in the dryer, as the heat from dryer may cause the stain to set.
With these simple steps, you can easily get rid of grease and oil stains from cotton denim. Always follow manufacturer’s instructions for washing and drying to ensure that your clothing lasts for years to come.
