berry Removing grease and oil stains from cotton is possible - and surprisingly straightforward! Cotton is a naturally absorbent material, which helps, but it also means that it may soak in the stain if not treated quickly. The good news is that with just a little effort and household items, you can get your cotton looking like new again. First, take a damp cloth, spritz it with distilled white vinegar and blot the stain to remove any excess grease. Then, launder the item as usual but make sure to include some sort of detergent containing oxygen bleach. For heavier stains, add a few teaspoons of baking soda to the wash cycle. If a regular wash cycle doesn't do trick, don't worry - there's still a chance you can save the item. Instead of simply wash, pre-treat the stain before machine washing. Using a paste of salt and hot water, cover the stain and let sit for several hours before throwing it in the washer. In cases where the stain hasn't been entirely removed with these steps, try using a commercial grease and oil remover. Take care to apply the product according to the instructions, as these products may contain harsh chemicals that could harm the fabric. Once the stain has been removed, rinse thoroughly and dry with no heat. At end of the day, preventing grease and oil stains is the best way to avoid having to tackle them. Washing items promptly and using an absorbent cloth or paper towels to blot spills is key.
