The first step in removing a grease or oil stain from your Cornelli Lace is to pre-treat stain to loosen it. To do this, carefully apply either dish soap or laundry detergent directly to the stained area, focusing on the edges. Allow this to sit for a few minutes before moving on to step two.
The next step is to create a cleaning solution to use on the stain. You can use one of two methods to do this- either mix a tablespoon of ammonia with a quart of warm water, or use a mixture of equal parts white vinegar, hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. Once you've created your solution, dip a clean cloth in it and gently dab at the stain.
Once you have finished dabbing at the stained area with your cleaning solution, you can apply a paste of cornstarch or baking soda. Simply add a bit of water to either powder to create a paste. Rub this paste into the stain and let it sit until the powder is completely dry before brushing it away with a soft-bristled brush.
When you are finished brushing away the powder, rinse the area with clean water using a cloth. For hard-to-reach areas, such as those that have intricate designs, use Q-tips soaked in warm water to help rinse away any residue.
Finally, lay the Cornelli Lace flat to air dry. This will help ensure that no mildew forms on the fabric, and that the stain has been completely removed. Your lace should now be good as new!
