What You Need

  • Dishwashing liquid
  • White vinegar
  • Borax powder
  • Soft cloth
  • Cream of tartar
  • Salt

Instructions

  1. Scrape off as much of grease and oil as possible with a blunt knife or spoon.
  2. Mix one part dishwashing liquid with two parts water in a bowl.
  3. Gently rub the mixture into the area with a soft cloth, being sure not to rub too hard.
  4. Rinse the area with warm water and blot it with a clean cloth to remove any excess soap.
  5. Mix one part white vinegar with two parts water and apply the solution to stain. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
  6. Rinse the area with warm water and blot it again with a dry cloth to absorb vinegar solution.
  7. Mix equal parts borax powder and cream of tartar with a teaspoon of salt. Apply the mixture to the stain and let it sit for 30 minutes.
  8. Rinse the area with warm water and blot it dry with a clean cloth.
