Step 1: Start by Blotting
Start by blotting up as much of the grease or oil as possible with a paper towel. Try to press down on the spot to absorb as much of the stain as possible. Don't rub it in, as this could just spread the stain further.
Step 2: Pre-Treat with Detergent
Apply some liquid laundry detergent to the spot and allow it to sit for about 10 minutes. This will help to break up the grease and oil molecules and make them easier to remove.
Step 3: Soak in Hot Water
Fill a basin or sink with hot water and add a few drops of liquid dishwashing soap. Submerge stained area of the fabric in the soapy water and let it soak for 30 minutes. This will help to further break down the grease and oil.
Step 4: Rinse and Dry
After soaking, rinse the fabric in lukewarm water and then dry it thoroughly with a paper towel. Repeat Steps 1-3 if necessary. Once all of the stains have been removed, hang the garment up to dry completely.
