What You Need

  • Absorbent paper towels or cloths
  • Ammonia solution (mix one part ammonia with four parts water)
  • Cotton swab
  • Detergent
  • Vinegar solution (mix one part white vinegar with four parts water)

Step 1: Blot the Stain

Carefully use an absorbent paper towel or cloth to blot the stain. Be sure to not rub the stain, as doing so will only spread it further. Do this until no more of stain can be absorbed.

Step 2: Apply Ammonia Solution

Gently dab a cotton swab in an ammonia solution and apply it to the stain. Keep blotting the area with an absorbent cloth or paper towel until no more of the solution can be absorbed.

Step 3: Wash with Detergent

Mix a few drops of detergent with some warm water. Gently rub the stained area with this solution and rinse with cold water. Then, blot the garment dry with an absorbent cloth or paper towel.

Step 4: Apply Vinegar Solution

Dab the stain with a cotton swab soaked in a vinegar solution. Again, keep blotting the area with an absorbent cloth or paper towel until no more of solution can be absorbed. Rinse the garment with cold water and lay it flat to air dry.

When to Seek Professional Help

If the stain persists after following the above steps, it may be best to seek the help of a professional cleaner. They will have better access to specialized treatments and cleaners, that can help remove the stain without damaging your garment.
