Removing Grease and Oil Stains from Canvas

Nobody likes it when grease and oil stains land on their favorite fabric, but getting rid of them doesn't have to be difficult.

What You'll Need:

  • White cloth
  • Absorbent paper towels
  • Dry cleaning solvent or baby shampoo
  • Warm water
  • Liquid detergent
  • Petroleum jelly

Directions:

  1. Remove any excess oil or grease with a white cloth.
  2. Blot the stain with absorbent paper towels until no more of the stain can be transferred.
  3. If necessary, put a few drops of dry cleaning solvent or baby shampoo on the stain and gently rub. Do not saturate the fabric.
  4. Rinse off the solvent or shampoo by running warm water over the stained area, then blot dry with paper towels.
  5. If the stain is still visible, apply a drop or two of liquid detergent to the stain and gently rub it into the fabric. Rinse with warm water and blot dry with paper towels.
  6. If the stain remains, apply a dab of petroleum jelly to the stain, let it sit for 30 minutes, then rinse with warm water and blot dry.

With some patience and the right materials, you can easily remove grease and oil stains from your canvas fabric. Good luck!
