Battenberg lace is a highly decorative crochet fabric that has beautiful patterns woven into its intricate design. This type of lace is often used in lingerie, blouses, curtains, and wedding and formal attire. Due to its delicate nature, it easily becomes stained from grease and oil.

Removing these stubborn stains without damaging the fabric requires special care and attention. Here are some tips for getting rid of grease and oil stains on Battenberg lace:

  • If the stain is fresh and still wet, use a soft cloth to blot up as much of the oil or grease as possible.
  • Mix a solution of equal parts water and liquid dish soap and gently dab the affected area with a cloth soaked in the solution.
  • For more stubborn stains, mix a solution of one part white vinegar and three parts water. Soak a clean cloth in the solution and dab it onto stain to lift away the oil or grease.
  • Once stain has been removed, rinse the garment in cold water to remove the soapy residue. Gently press the fabric while it is submerged in the water to help imitate hand-washing.
  • Lay the garment out on a clean surface and let it air dry naturally.

It is important to remember not to rub the fabric or attempt to scrub the stain off, as this could damage the lace. Also, make sure to use mild, gentle solutions and never use bleach on Battenberg lace.
