Before you can do any kind of cleaning, it’s important to pre-treat the area. To do this, try sprinkling some baking soda or cornstarch on the stain and let it sit for 15 minutes. This will help to absorb some of the grease and oil before you go in with a cleaning agent.
Once you’ve done pre-treatment, you can go in with a detergent-based cleaner that is designed for removing stains. Squirt some of the cleaner directly onto the stain and use a clean, white cloth to gently rub it into fabric. Make sure to rub lightly and in a circular motion, so as not to damage the fabric.
After you’ve rubbed in the cleaner, rinse the garment with warm water. If the stain persists, you can repeat process, but make sure to read the instructions on the detergent bottle carefully before doing so.
Once you’ve finished cleaning the stain, lay garment flat on a drying surface and allow it to air dry. You should never put a garment with a fresh stain in the dryer, as this will only set the stain further.
