Step 1: Blot Area

Using a paper towel or a cloth, blot the greasy area to soak up excess oil. Make sure not to rub the area as it might spread the stain further.

Step 2: Let It Soak

Sprinkle some baking soda on the stain and pour warm water over it. Leave it overnight and let it soak, this will help to break down the grease.

Step 3: Scrub the Area

Using a soft brush, scrub the area gently in a circular motion. You can also add a mild detergent or soap to the water.

Step 4: Rinse and Blot Area Dry

Rinse off the cleaning solution with cool water. Blot the area with a cloth to absorb water. Do not rinse too vigorously as this could spread the stain.

Step 5: Apply a Homemade Cleaning Solution

Combine equal parts white vinegar, rubbing alcohol and cold water. Pour the solution over the stained area and scrub it with a soft brush. Leave it for an hour and then rinse it with cold water.

Step 6: Use Commercial Cleaners

If your homemade solution doesn’t work, try using commercial cleaners such as degreasers or carpet cleaners. Follow the instructions and use protective gloves when working with these products.

Step 7: Launder the Fabric

If the grease and oil stains have been on fabric, you should launder them. Put the fabric in the washing machine and wash it in hot water with regular detergent. Check the stain before putting the fabric in the dryer and repeat if necessary.
