If the stain is fresh, use a clean cloth or paper towel to blot up as much of the excess moisture as possible. Do not rub the cloth into the stain, as this can spread the sauce further and make it harder to remove.
Next, spray the affected area with a pre-treatment solution like Shout Advanced Action Gel. Let the pre-treatment sit on the stain for a few minutes before washing. This will help break down the grease and make the stain easier to remove later.
Fill a sink or bucket with hot water and add a few drops of detergent. Let the garment soak for several hours or overnight. This will help loosen the stain from the fabric fibers, making it more likely to come out during the next step.
After soaking, put garment in the washing machine. Set the machine to the hottest water setting and add detergent. Don’t add other clothing items, as they could get stained too.
Once the garment has been washed, air dry or tumble dry on the low heat setting. Check the garment for any remaining stain. If there are any stubborn spots, repeat steps 2-4.
