If you catch the stain before it has dried, you’ll have a much easier time eliminating it. Use a sponge or cloth to blot up as much of liquid as possible, taking care not to spread the gravy stain. If you have access to it, cold water will help loosen the stain further.
White vinegar is an excellent choice for removing gravy stains due to its acidity. Take a cloth saturated with white vinegar and dab it onto the stain until it is wet but not dripping. Allow the white vinegar to sit for a few minutes, then proceed to step 3.
After the white vinegar has had a chance to fully penetrate the stain, it’s time to start scrubbing. Make a paste by combining liquid laundry detergent, baking soda, and a bit of cold water. Use a toothbrush to gently scrub paste into the stain. Once you’ve removed as much of stain as possible, proceed to the next step.
It may take several cycles of blotting, applying vinegar, and scrubbing to fully remove the stain. However, each time you rinse away paste and start over, you should find the stain becoming lighter and less noticeable.
