When it comes to dealing with gravy stains, there are a few key steps you should follow for the best results. So, here’s how to get those unsightly grease marks out of your plaid fabric.

Step 1: Blot Stain Immediately

The first step in tackling a gravy stain on tartan is to blot the affected area quickly with a paper towel or cloth to absorb as much of the grease as possible. Don't rub or scrub, as this could cause the stain to spread.

Step 2: Cover with Baking Soda Paste

Next, grab some baking soda and mix it with a small amount of water to create a thick paste. Apply the paste over the affected area and let it sit for about 30 minutes. The baking soda will help absorb grease from fabric.

Step 3: Rinse off the Paste

Once paste has had time to do its work, make sure to rinse it off completely with lukewarm water. Then, dry the fabric with a clean towel.

Step 4: Apply a Grease-Cutting Detergent

For stubborn gravy stains, you'll need to apply a grease-cutting laundry detergent directly onto the fabric. This will help break down the grease so that it will be easier to remove. Let the detergent sit on the stain for a few minutes before rinsing.

Step 5: Wash the Fabric

Finally, if the stain persists, you can put the fabric through a normal washing cycle. Make sure to use a gentle detergent and to read care instructions on label before doing so. This should blast the stain away for good.

Step 6: Air Dry the Fabric

Once your tartan fabric has finished its cycle in the wash, hang it up to air dry. Avoid placing it in dryer, as this can cause the stain to set in permanently.

Now you know how to get gravy stains out of tartan fabric easily and effectively. With these tips, you can keep your favorite plaid fabrics looking as good as new!
