Don’t let gravy stains ruin your favorite pair of socks – we’ve all been there. Soak the affected socks immediately in cold water for at least an hour, and try and work any larger chunks of gravy out with a fork or spoon.
Next, you’ll need to prepare a cleaning solution. Mix one teaspoon of laundry detergent with one tablespoon of white vinegar in a bowl of lukewarm water. Submerge the stained socks in the solution and let them soak for 30 minutes.
Afterwards, rinse socks in cold water with some gentle rubbing or scrubbing. If stain is still visible after this, repeat the process and leave the socks in the cleaning solution for longer.
Now it’s time to dry the socks. Hang them outside in the sunshine, if possible, but make sure you don’t leave them in direct sunlight for too long, as this could damage fabric. Alternatively, you can put socks on a no heat cycle in the tumble dryer, but take them out as soon as they are dry.
Finally, check over socks to ensure the gravy stain has completely gone. To ensure your socks stay gravy free and looking their best for longer, avoid wearing them next time you tuck into a delicious dinner of gravy-drenched food.
