Things You'll Need

  • Dish soap
  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Water
  • Old toothbrush
  • Soft cloth

Steps

  1. Blot stain with a paper towel as soon as possible. Try not to rub spilled gravy further into the fabric of sneakers.
  2. Mix one teaspoon of dish soap, one tablespoon of white vinegar, and one teaspoon of baking soda with warm water. Stir until all ingredients are dissolved together.
  3. Dip an old toothbrush into the mixture, then brush it over the stain. Make sure to use gentle strokes.
  4. Let the solution sit for 15 minutes, then rinse with cool water.
  5. Pat dry the stained area with a soft cloth, then let air dry.

Tips

  • You can also use a laundry pre-treatment solution for more stubborn stains.
  • If the stain remains, you can try using a high-powered vacuum cleaner to suck it up.
  • For suede or leather sneakers, use a liquid cleaner specially designed for those materials.
