Step 1: Blot the Stain

As soon as the spill happens, it's important to take measures to prevent the stain from setting and absorb as much of the gravy as you can. Before starting any other steps, start by taking a clean paper towel, cloth, or sponge and blot the stain gently. It's important to never scrub or rub the stain, as this can cause it to spread and set in further.

Step 2: Pre-Treat the Stain

After thoroughly blotting the stain, it's time to pre-treat. Pre-treating the stain will start to break down the grease particles in the gravy. Start by mixing together 1/2 teaspoon of liquid dishwashing detergent, such as Dawn, with 1 cup of warm water. Dip a clean paper towel, cloth, or sponge into the mixture and lightly dab the stained area. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes before moving on to the next step.

Step 3: Wash the Shirt

Now that the stain is pre-treated, it's time to wash the shirt. Start by filling your sink or a bucket with warm water and add a cup of white vinegar. Gently submerge the stained area and let it soak for at least 5 minutes. Add a cap full of laundry detergent and swirl the shirt around for a few minutes. Rinse the shirt off and then put it in washing machine to finish washing it.

Conclusion

By following this easy 3-step plan, you should be able to get rid of most gravy stains on your sleep shirt. Remember to never scrub or rub the stain, and to always blot it gently. Once you've pre-treated the stain and washed it, you should have a stain-free sleep shirt again!
