What You Need

  • Laundry detergent
  • Dish soap
  • White vinegar
  • Cotton cloths
  • Pre-treating solution

Steps for Removing Gravy Stains

  1. Blot up any excess gravy with a clean cotton cloth. Do not rub, as this can spread the stain further.
  2. Mix 1 teaspoon of dish soap with 1 teaspoon of white vinegar and one cup of warm water.
  3. Soak a clean cotton cloth in the mixture and blot the stained area. Let the solution sit on the fabric for about 15 minutes.
  4. Rinse the fabric with cold water.
  5. If the stain is still there, apply a pre-treating solution or laundry detergent directly to the spot.
  6. Let the pre-treater or detergent sit for about 10 minutes, then rinse with cold water.
  7. Repeat the process until the gravy stain is gone.
  8. After the stain is gone, launder the garment in the washing machine according to the care label instructions.
