Blot the stain with a paper towel or cloth. Take care not to rub the stain — this can cause the greasy residue to spread and set into the fabric. Next, sprinkle some talcum powder onto the area to absorb any remaining grease. If the grease is still present, use a few drops of mild detergent mixed with lukewarm water and gently dab the stain with a soft cloth. Rinse with cool water afterwards.
If the stain proves stubborn and does not come away with these methods, apply a few drops of white vinegar or lemon juice directly onto the area and let it sit for 20 minutes before rinsing. Finally, lay your silk fabric flat and allow it to air-dry.
When laundering your stained garment, turn it inside out and avoid using hot water. Do not wring, twist, iron, scrub, or soak your garment — all of these actions can cause lasting damage to the fabric. You may also want to use a gentle cycle setting on your washing machine to prevent further wear and tear.
When in doubt, consult a professional. Depending on the nature and extent of the grease stain, you may wish to contact a dry cleaner who has experience with high quality fabrics.
