Steps for Removing Gravy Stains from Scrubs
- Act quickly after spill. The sooner you begin treating the stain, the better your chances are of getting it out.
- Wet a paper towel with cold water and blot the stain gently. Don’t rub the fabric as it can cause the stain to set.
- Once the area is damp, sprinkle some baking soda over the stained area to absorb the moisture.
- Mix a solution of equal parts white vinegar and cold water and use a cloth or sponge to apply it to the stain.
- Scrub the stain with a toothbrush and allow solution to sit for a few minutes.
- Rinse the area with cold water.
- If stain is still visible, apply a small amount of laundry detergent directly to the stain.
- Allow the detergent to sit for five to ten minutes and then rinse with cold water.
- Repeat the process until the stain is gone.
- Once the stain has been removed, hang the item to dry away from direct sunlight.
Tips for Working with Gravy Stains
- Avoid using hot water or warm temperatures when washing as this will cause stain to set.
- Never put items stained with gravy in the dryer as this will make it much harder to remove the stain.
- Use a pre-wash stain remover on the area before washing if possible.
- Always test any solution on an inconspicuous area of the garment before using.
