Removing Fresh Gravy Stains from a Scarf

  1. Use paper towels to blot as much of the gravy as possible. Don’t rub the fabric or you may spread the stain further.
  2. Run cool water through the back side of the fabric until the stain is removed. Hot water may set the stain, making it harder to remove.
  3. If the stain remains, dab a small amount of dish detergent on the stain and continue running cold water over the garment. If stain still won’t lift, use rubbing alcohol or white vinegar on the stain instead.
  4. When the stain is gone, wash scarf in the washing machine according to the fabric instructions.

Dealing with Dried Gravy Stains

  1. Start by using warm water and some detergent to gently scrub away dried gravy stain. Try not to rub too hard so that you don’t damage the fabric.
  2. If the stain remains, add a few drops of white vinegar onto the stain. Let it sit for a couple of minutes and then scrub it away.
  3. If the stain still doesn’t come out, mix together some baking soda and water to form a paste. Rub the paste onto the stained area and let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing.
  4. Finally, rinse away the paste and throw the scarf in the washing machine with a mild detergent.

Tips for Removing Gravy Stains from a Scarf

  • Always work from the back side of the fabric, never the front.
  • Be careful not to rub the stain or you may spread it further.
  • Rinse the scarf with cold water rather than hot.
  • Avoid using chlorine bleach unless the scarf is white.
