What You'll Need
- Dish soap (preferably one with an enzyme cleaning agent)
- Stain remover
- White vinegar
- Soft cloths (or a soft-bristled brush)
Instructions
- As soon as you notice the stain, use a soft cloth or a soft-bristled brush to gently wipe up any excess gravy. Don't rub it into the fabric or it may cause the stain to set.
- Mix one tablespoon of dish soap with two tablespoons of white vinegar in a bowl. Dip a soft cloth into the solution and gently dab the mixture onto the stain. Be sure to avoid scrubbing the fabric.
- Allow the mixture to sit on the stain for 15 minutes before rinsing it off with cold water.
- If the stain is still visible, apply a stain remover directly to the fabric. Allow it to sit for the time indicated on the packaging and rinse off with cold water.
- If both of these methods fail, contact a professional dry cleaner to have the stain removed.
Tips
- Be sure to treat the stain as soon as possible, since dried gravy has a much harder time coming out.
- Always pre-test the dish soap, stain remover, and white vinegar on an inconspicuous area of the fabric first to make sure they won't damage the material.
- If you opt to take it to the dry cleaner, be sure to explain the type of stain so that they can properly treat it.
