As soon as you notice a gravy stain, grab a clean, white cloth and start to blot up excess gravy. Be sure not to rub or scrub the stain as this will only spread it further. Instead, press your cloth against the stain and gently dab it until you have gotten as much of the gravy off as possible.
Once you have blotted up as much of the gravy stain as possible, pre-treat it with a stain remover. You can purchase stain removers specifically designed for polyester fabric, but any all-purpose stain remover should work as well. Simply apply an even layer of the stain remover over stained area and let it soak in for about 5 minutes.
After stain remover has had time to do its job, rinse the stained area with lukewarm water. Try to avoid rubbing the stain too much as this may cause it to spread. Once you have rinsed the area, blot it with a fresh, white cloth to dry.
Finally, once you have pre-treated and rinsed the stain, you can launder the fabric as normal. Be sure to double check the care instructions on the label before you begin so that you know which setting to use on your washing machine. After laundering, hang up the fabric to dry.
By following these simple steps, you should be able to effectively remove gravy stains from your polyester fabric. The key is to act quickly and not let the stain set in. With a little bit of patience and some elbow grease, you'll have your fabric looking like new again in no time.
