Materials You Will Need

  • Cold water
  • Dish detergent
  • Shampoo
  • White vinegar
  • Soft cloth
  • Absorbent paper towels or a clean, dry towel

Steps for Cleaning Gravy Stains from Organza Fabric

  1. Act quickly when you notice the stain. The sooner you treat it, the better chance of removing it.
  2. Carefully blot the stain with a clean, white cloth to remove as much of the material as possible.
  3. Wet cloth with cold water and gently dab the area to dilute the stain further. Avoid vigorous rubbing or scrubbing as this can damage the fabric.
  4. Mix a few drops of dish detergent and some cold water in a bowl and dip a clean cloth into it.
  5. Gently dab stain with cloth, then rinse with cool water. Repeat as necessary until the stain is no longer visible.
  6. If the stain persists, mix equal parts shampoo and cold water, and apply to the stain with a soft cloth.
  7. Rinse thoroughly with cold water and repeat until stain is gone. If needed, use a few drops of white vinegar to help remove any residue.
  8. Place absorbent paper towels or a clean, dry towel on both sides of the fabric to remove any remaining moisture, then hang to air dry.
  9. Inspect the fabric carefully before fluffing or ironing it.

Tips for Success

  • Difficult stains, especially those caused by food, may require multiple treatments and removal attempts.
  • Always test any cleaning solution in an inconspicuous spot first, such as the inside seam, to make sure it won’t damage fabric.
  • A professional dry cleaner may be able to help with more stubborn stains.
