The first step in removing any gravy stain is to blot stained area with a dry cloth or paper towel. Do not rub the area, as this could spread the stain further. Blot until no more of the stain can be absorbed onto the cloth.
Once you have blotted the stain, you can pre-treat the area with white vinegar before laundering. Pour some vinegar onto the stained area and let it sit for 10-15 minutes before rinsing. This will help to break down the stain and make it easier to remove.
Once you have pre-treated stain with vinegar, the next step is to use a liquid laundry detergent to try and get it out. Mix a tablespoon of liquid detergent with two cups of warm water and mix until it forms a thick paste. Apply paste to the stain and let it sit for 10-15 minutes before rinsing off.
If the stain is still visible after using a laundry detergent, you can also try Borax or baking soda. Both can be effective at lifting the stain out of Marcella fabrics. Simply mix 1 tablespoon of either Borax or baking soda with one cup of warm water and apply the paste to the stained area. Let it sit for 15 minutes before rinsing with cool water.
After all steps are complete, you should see the stain start to come off the fabric. Give your Marcella piece a final rinse with cool water and then hang up to dry. Once it is fully dry, inspect the fabric to make sure the stain is removed.
Gravy stains can be tricky to remove, but with right tools and techniques you can have your Marcella fabric looking good as new in no time! Just remember to always take precaution and test a small, hidden area of your fabric before applying any of these techniques.
