What You Need:

  • Salt or baking soda
  • Liquid laundry detergent
  • Cold water
  • Sponge

Steps for Removing the Stains:

  1. Sprinkle the area liberally with either salt or baking soda.
  2. Let the salt or baking soda sit for up to 10 minutes so that it can absorb the grease from the gravy.
  3. Using a sponge and cold water, wipe away the salt or baking soda from the fabric.
  4. If stain is still present, apply a small amount of liquid laundry detergent to the stain.
  5. Using a damp sponge, gently rub detergent into the stain.
  6. Rinse off the detergent with cold water.
  7. Leave to air dry until the stain is no longer visible.

Tips for Prevention:

  • Always blot excess gravy spills as soon as possible to prevent the stain from setting in.
  • If the stain has already dried in, do not scrub it as this will only make it worse.
  • Pre-treat the garment before laundering to ensure the stain is removed.
