Step One: Blot the Stain

First, use a sponge or paper towel to blot up as much of the gravy as possible. Don't rub the stain - that will only make it worse. The goal here is to get as much of the gravy away from the fabric as possible.

Step Two: Treat the Stain with a Detergent or Stain Remover

Next, grab a detergent that's designed for stain removal (ex. Oxyclean, Shout, etc.). If you don't have one on hand, you can also use white vinegar mixed with water. Add a few drops of the solution to the stained area and let it sit for about 10-15 minutes. After that, rinse off the stain with cold water and then launder the item as usual.

Step Three: Let the Garment Air Dry

Finally, let the garment air dry after washing. Heat (from a dryer or iron) can set the stain in and make it nearly impossible to remove. So, hang garment outside, or in a well-ventilated area to allow it to air dry.

And there you have it! You have successfully removed a gravy stain from your jacket. With these three simple steps, you can get rid of gravy stains in no time!
