Gravy is a scrumptious addition to many meals, but no one wants to end up with a greasy stain on their clothes. Even when you use a napkin or a bib, sometimes a bit of gravy still manages to sneak its way onto your clothing. Luckily, it’s easy to get gravy stains out with a few household items.

The first step to getting gravy out of your clothes is to scrape off any excess. Usually this means taking a butter knife and scraping away the gravy from the fabric. Be careful not to spread it around any more than it already has been. You may want to use a paper towel or napkin to wipe away as much of gravy as possible.
Once you have scraped off excess gravy, you will need to soak the stained area of the fabric for several minutes in cold water. This will help to draw out the stain and loosen it up. If there is a lot of gravy, you may need to change water and repeat the process several times until it’s gone.
After you have soaked the stained area, you can then launder the fabric as normal. Depending on how much gravy you started with, you may need to add some additional detergent or stain remover to the laundry operation. Before drying the garment, check to make sure the stain is gone.
If the stain is still present, you may need to repeat the above steps again. Some stubborn gravy stains require multiple tries to completely remove.
Stains from gravy don’t have to be a disaster. With a few simple steps, you can have your clothes looking new again in no time. By scraping off the excess, soaking the stain, and laundering as normal, you can easily get rid of gravy stains.
