Nobody likes cleaning up a big mess, especially when it's a stubborn gravy stain on your favorite garter. But don't worry! It doesn't have to be difficult – there are actually several simple steps that you can take to get that stain out in no time.

What You'll Need

  • Cold water
  • Mild detergent
  • White vinegar
  • A sponge or damp cloth
  • Baking soda

Steps to Clean the Stain

  1. Treat the stain as soon as possible to get the best results. Start by blotting the area with a clean, damp cloth or sponge. Do not rub the stain or it could make it worse.
  2. Mix a mild detergent with cold water to make a soapy solution. Dip cloth or sponge back into this solution and then apply it to the stained area. Scrub gently and then rinse with cold water. Repeat as needed until stain is gone.
  3. If the stain is still visible, you can try using white vinegar mixed with cold water. Apply the solution to stain and then blot it with a dry cloth.
  4. If the stain is still present, you can try using baking soda. Make a paste by combining the baking soda with a bit of water. Apply the paste to the stain and let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes. Then, rinse it off with cold water.

How to Prevent Future Staining

Here are a few tips for keeping your garter clean and free from gravy stains:

  • Always store your garter in a cool, dry place.
  • Wash your garter regularly, following instructions on the care label.
  • Avoid wearing the garter when eating messy foods.
  • Spot test any cleaning products before using them on your garter.
