What You'll Need

  • Baking soda
  • Dish soap
  • White vinegar
  • Scrub brush
  • Vacuum

Step 1: Blot Fresh Stains with a Dry Cloth

If you're fortunate enough to catch the stain before it has set, blot the area with a dry cloth or paper towel to absorb as much of the gravy as possible. Avoid rubbing the stain, as this will only spread it further.

Step 2: Make a Baking Soda Paste

Mix baking soda and water in a bowl to create a thick paste. This paste is an effective way to draw out moisture and help lift stain.

Step 3: Apply Baking Soda Paste

Apply the paste directly to the affected area using a circular motion. Allow the paste to sit for 10-15 minutes before brushing off in the same direction. Vacuum any residual baking soda.

Step 4: Soak Up with Soap and Vinegar

Next, mix equal parts warm water and dish soap in a bowl. Dip your scrub brush into the mixture and gently scrub the stain. Then switch to a cloth soaked with white vinegar. The vinegar should help to pull the stain out of the fabric.

Step 5: Rinse with Water and Towel Dry

Rinse the stained area with clean warm water and pat dry with a towel. Allow the area to air dry fully before continuing.
